27 Compton Unified Schools Earn Prestigious California PBIS Honors
Twenty-seven Compton Unified School District schools have earned prestigious statewide honors for their work creating positive, supportive learning environments for scholars through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
CUSD schools earned one Platinum, 12 Gold, 11 Silver and three Bronze awards through the California PBIS Recognition System for the 2025-26 school year.

Leading the way was Kelly, which earned the exemplary Platinum Award, the highest level of California PBIS recognition.
The recognition highlights the work taking place across Compton Unified to establish clear expectations for scholars, reinforce positive behavior and create school environments that support academic achievement and student success.
The 27 CUSD schools recognized are:
Platinum: Kelly
Gold: Bunche Middle, Compton Early College High, Compton Early College Middle, Davis, Foster, Kennedy, King, Laurel Street, McKinley, McNair, Washington and Whaley.
Silver: Bursch, Centennial, Clinton, Compton High, Dominguez, Emerson, Jefferson, Longfellow, Mayo, Roosevelt and Tibby.
Bronze: Anderson, Bunche Elementary and Rosecrans.
PBIS is a schoolwide framework designed to help schools establish consistent expectations, reinforce positive behavior and strengthen conditions for teaching and learning. Schools receiving California PBIS recognition demonstrate successful implementation of those practices across their campuses.
Nearly 2,700 schools throughout California were recognized through the program for the 2025-26 school year.
Compton Unified’s 27 recognized schools will be featured through the California PBIS Recognition System and celebrated during the annual California PBIS Conference in Sacramento in October.
The Districtwide recognition adds to Compton Unified’s growing list of state and national honors and reflects CUSD’s continued focus on creating school environments where all scholars have the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
