Compton High Celebrates 300+ Scholars' College Commitments on Decision Day

Compton High School transformed its baseball field into a vibrant celebration space as 300 graduating scholars proudly announced their plans for life after high school during the school’s annual Decision Day event. Surrounded by classmates, teachers and counselors, the Class of 2026 celebrated where their journeys will take after high school.
A large group of Compton High scholars will be continuing their education within the University of California system, earning admission to prestigious campuses such as University of California, Los Angeles, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Irvine, University of California, Riverside, University of California, San Diego, and University of California, Santa Barbara.
Many scholars also committed to campuses within the California State University system, including California State University, Fullerton, California State University, Long Beach, California State University, Northridge, California State University, Dominguez Hills, and California State University, Los Angeles, as well as San Francisco State University. These institutions offer a wide range of academic and career-focused opportunities that will help scholars continue to grow and succeed.
In addition to in-state options, Compton High scholars will be attending a variety of other colleges and universities, including Chapman University, and many more across the country. Several scholars decided to serve in the United States Armed Forces, demonstrating a commitment to leadership and service beyond the classroom.
The Decision Day celebration itself was filled with energy and excitement. Held on the baseball field, the event featured games, raffles, music from a live DJ, and a variety of activities including soccer and tug-of-war.
Scholars enjoyed nachos and lunch while celebrating alongside friends and staff, creating a festive and memorable atmosphere that honored both their achievements and their futures.
