200+ Centennial Scholars Declare College Commitments at Decision Day
Centennial High School hosted a powerful and celebratory Decision Day in its gymnasium, where more than 200 graduating scholars proudly announced their plans for life after high school—marking a major milestone in their academic journeys and a defining moment for the Class of 2026.

Scholars took the stage to share their next steps, greeted with cheers and applause from classmates and educators. The event reflected the culmination of years of hard work, determination, and support from the Centennial community, as each announcement symbolized a new beginning filled with promise and opportunity.

A significant number of Centennial scholars will be continuing their education within the University of California system, earning acceptance to highly respected institutions such as University of California, Los Angeles, University of California, Merced, University of California, Irvine, University of California, Riverside, University of California, San Diego, and University of California, Santa Barbara.

In addition, many scholars will be attending campuses within the California State University system, including California State University, Long Beach, California State University, Fullerton, California State University, Dominguez Hills, and California State University, Los Angeles, as well as California State University, Sacramento.

Centennial scholars will also be enrolling at a diverse set of other institutions across the country, including Southern University and A&M College, Arizona State University, and Howard University. In addition, several scholars made the decision to serve their country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and leadership.

The celebration was held in the gym, where lunch was served and scholars had the opportunity to celebrate alongside friends, teachers, and counselors. The atmosphere was filled with pride and excitement as each student’s achievement was recognized and uplifted.

Centennial High School’s Decision Day continues to be a meaningful tradition that showcases the resilience, ambition, and success of its scholars. The event reflects Compton Unified School District’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that every student is prepared for success in college, career, and life beyond the classroom.
