Compton High and Compton Early College HS Earn Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award
Compton Unified School District is proud to announce that Compton High School and Compton Early College High School have been named Exemplary Dual Enrollment Awardees, a prestigious recognition highlighting outstanding partnerships that help high school students earn college credit while still in high school.

The honor was awarded following a highly competitive review process conducted by the Dual Enrollment Award Committee, which includes representatives from the California Coalition of Early and Middle College, the Career Ladders Project, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the California Department of Education, and dual enrollment practitioners from secondary and postsecondary institutions across the state.
This latest recognition builds on the District’s continued success in expanding college access for students. In 2023, Centennial High School and Dominguez High School also received the Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award. With the addition of Compton High School and Compton Early College High School, all four comprehensive high schools in Compton Unified School District have now earned this prestigious statewide recognition.

The achievement reflects the strength of Compton Unified’s College and Career programs, which are designed to create a strong college-going culture across the District. Through dual enrollment opportunities, scholars can take real college courses while still in high school, allowing them to earn valuable credits that count toward a future degree.
In addition to giving students a head start on their college journey, these programs also provide a major financial benefit to families. By completing college courses in high school, scholars can reduce the number of classes they need to take in college—saving families thousands of dollars in future tuition costs.

Compton High School and Compton Early College High School will be formally recognized during the California Schools Recognition Program on April 24, 2026 at the Disneyland Hotel, celebrating the educators, leaders, and partners who continue to expand access to higher education for Compton Unified scholars.
This recognition underscores Compton Unified’s ongoing commitment to preparing every scholar for success in college, career, and beyond.
