C-Tech Esports Team Sits in First Place
First-year team under Centennial program shines.
Congratulations to C-Tech’s CIF JV Rocket League team, which sits in first place at the close of regular season play that wrapped on March 21. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication and focus of a first-year squad competing at a high level from day one.

This success is especially notable for the Compton Academy of Technology and Innovation (C-Tech) and its first-year coach, Mr. Jessie Bretall, who have guided the program through an impressive debut season. Competing this year as a JV team under Centennial High School, C-Tech is proudly representing Compton in the rapidly growing esports arena and demonstrating the depth of talent within our scholar-athlete community.
Esports has become a powerful entry point into STEM education, offering scholars hands-on exposure to fields such as computer science, game design, engineering, data analytics, and digital media production. Students participating in competitive gaming build essential skills including strategic thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, and technical literacy. These experiences open doors to careers in software development, cybersecurity, IT support, animation, broadcasting, and emerging technology fields that continue to shape the global workforce.
C-Tech now advances to the CIF JV Playoffs, beginning April 5 and continuing through April 17, with Finals to follow. We are proud of the team’s accomplishments and look forward to witnessing their continued success as they represent Compton on the playoff stage.
