Longfellow and Tibby Scholars Tour UCLA

Media Release

40 Longfellow and Tibby Elementary School 2nd and 3rd Graders recently visited University of California, Los Angeles for a special private UCLA Cub Tours experience, gaining an early glimpse into college life.

The scholars explored campus, engaged with college students, and began to envision their futures in higher education. Students toured the Geology Building, where meteorites and dinosaur exhibits sparked excitement about science and discovery. They were introduced to STEM fields and related majors, learning about careers in geology, engineering, environmental science, astronomy, and research.

As they walked through campus, they also connected with current UCLA students and professors—many who looked like them—making college feel relatable, possible, and within reach.

Scholars also learned about college classes, selecting a major based on their interests, and understanding the differences between scholarships, grants, and loans. While exploring campus landmarks, they listened to the rich history and traditions that make UCLA a world-renowned institution. UCLA is currently the number 2 ranked public university in the nation.

More than a tour, this experience built confidence, belonging, and vision. By introducing college at an early age, UCLA Cub Tours plants a powerful seed: higher education is not just a dream—it is a goal they can begin preparing for now.
