Foster Elementary Named 2026 America's Best Schools Award Finalist
Foster Elementary School has been recognized as a 2026 America’s Best Schools Award Finalist by the National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST)—a prestigious national honor that highlights schools demonstrating exceptional outcomes for all scholars.
Foster Elementary is one of just 17 outstanding schools nationwide selected as finalists from NCUST’s highly competitive Honor Roll. Out of hundreds of schools across the United States reviewed by NCUST, only 26 schools met the organization’s rigorous criteria to earn Honor Roll distinction. From that elite group, Foster Elementary and 16 other schools rose to the top as finalists.

This recognition reflects the school’s strong leadership, commitment to equity, and unwavering focus on student success. Congratulations to Principal McDuffie, the dedicated Foster Elementary staff, and the school’s scholars for this remarkable achievement. Their collective efforts continue to make a meaningful impact every day, creating a supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Final award winners will be announced in May 2026, following on-site visits conducted by NCUST. These visits will validate application evidence and provide deeper insight into each finalist school’s leadership practices, school culture, curriculum, instructional strategies, and scholar engagement—key factors that drive strong academic and social-emotional outcomes.

Foster Elementary’s recognition builds on Compton Unified School District’s growing national reputation for excellence. Last year, Laurel Street Elementary and Tibby Elementary were named 2025 NCUST America’s Best Schools Award winners, further highlighting the district’s commitment to transformative education.
