Centennial Wins Anaheim Union Esports Tournament

Compton Unified School District scholars delivered an impressive performance at the Anaheim Union Esports Tournament, highlighted by a championship victory from Centennial High School.

The Rocket League bracket featured an all-Compton Unified showdown. Centennial faced off against Compton Academy of Technology and Innovation (C-Tech) in a thrilling finals matchup that guaranteed the district both first- and second-place honors. Centennial claimed the tournament championship title, while C-Tech secured second place.

After a full day of intense matchups in Super Smash Bros. solos competition, Compton High School’s Anthony Valencia earned an impressive second-place finish in the solos tournament.

Students from Centennial, Compton High School, Compton Academy of Technology and Innovation, and Dominguez High School competed in two popular titles: Rocket League and Super Smash Bros., showcasing their strategic thinking, teamwork, and competitive skill on a regional stage.

The strong showing across multiple schools underscores the continued growth and success of esports programs throughout Compton Unified. With talent, preparation, and determination on full display, CUSD scholars once again demonstrated that they can compete — and win — at the highest levels.
