Dominguez Cheer Team Captures State Championships
The Dominguez Varsity Cheer Team made history, securing a State Championship title on April 11th at the Sharp International California Championships. The team won the Varsity Small Division Non-Tumbling title. The event took place at Knott’s Berry Farm, where the Dominguez Cheer Team delivered a championship performance against top programs from across the state.

Competing with confidence and precision, Dominguez rose above the competition with a routine that showcased elite synchronization, energy, and school pride. Their performance earned top marks from judges and secured the program’s first-ever state championship—an extraordinary milestone for a team that only recently entered the competitive cheer scene.

The championship victory reflects the dedication and resilience of the scholar-athletes and their coaches, who have committed countless hours to perfecting their craft. Led by Dominguez Dance Teacher / Cheer Coach Imani B. Wafer, their hard work paid off on the state stage, cementing Dominguez’s place among California’s top cheer programs.

Dominguez Cheer Team qualified for the state championships by earning first place in the Small Division Non-Tumbling category at the Sharp International Competition held at Estancia High School in Costa Mesa, in early March.
This historic achievement not only highlights the continued growth of Dominguez’s athletic programs but also serves as a powerful example of what can be accomplished through teamwork, discipline, and belief. With a state title now in hand, the Dominguez Varsity Cheer Team has set a new standard of excellence and inspired the next generation of scholar-athletes to aim high and compete with confidence.
