Anderson Elementary Scholars Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
Anderson Elementary scholars recently enjoyed a special visit from bilingual author Juliana Anthony Hernandez, who read her book Between Friends (Entre Amigos) in both English and Spanish. Her story celebrates fun, true friendships that make life sweeter and was just one of Anderson’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations.

Hernandez, a bilingual elementary teacher who began her career in Texas and now lives in San Diego, inspired our scholars with her words and her journey. She shared how her love of reading and storytelling has shaped her life and career, encouraging scholars to embrace their creativity and believe in the power of their own voices.

As a special surprise after the book reading, all the scholars were given a copy of the book to take home with them, helping them continue their love of reading beyond the classroom.

Anderson’s Hispanic Heritage Month events highlight the richness of language, culture, and tradition while fostering pride in our diverse community. Celebrations like these remind scholars that their heritage is not only valued but also a powerful part of their educational journey.

By bringing in diverse voices and experiences, the school continues to create meaningful connections that honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future.
