Willowbrook (Compton Early College) Middle School Named 2025 National Blue Ribbon School
Compton Unified School District is thrilled to announce that Willowbrook Middle School, also referred to as Compton Early College Middle School, has been recognized as a 2025 National Blue Ribbon School — one of only 31 schools in the entire state to earn this highly prestigious honor.
California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond made the announcement for the U.S. Department of Education. This recognition celebrates schools that demonstrate exceptional academic performance and remarkable progress in closing opportunity gaps. National Blue Ribbon Schools represent the highest levels of achievement and commitment to excellence across the national.

This award is particularly significant for Compton Unified School District as it is the first Blue Ribbon distinction earned by a Compton Unified school since 2014 — underscoring the district’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, equitable education for all students.
Compton Unified extends its sincere congratulations to Principal Dr. Pamela Maddox, along with the teachers, administrators, staff, and scholars of Willowbrook Middle School / Compton Early College, for this outstanding accomplishment. Their dedication, teamwork, and pursuit of excellence have made this recognition possible and continue to serve as a source of pride and inspiration for the entire Compton community.
Willowbrook is one of eight schools in the greater Los Angeles area to receive this honor. The California Blue Ribbon Schools will be formally recognized at the California School Recognition Program celebration in spring 2026.
Congratulations to the entire Willowbrook / Compton Early College community for this well-deserved achievement.
