DBPAC Parent Meeting Empowers Families for Scholar Success
Meeting brought together families, district staff, and community partners to support student achievement.
The October DBPAC Parent Engagement Meeting was a great success, bringing together families, district staff, and community partners in support of student achievement. Newly elected officers were recognized for their leadership and commitment to ensuring that all students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

During the meeting, parents received an overview of early intervention strategies, including the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Student Support and Monitoring Teams (SSMTs). These approaches help schools identify and address student needs early on, ensuring that every child receives the right level of support before an Individualized Education Program (IEP) is considered.

A representative from Hazel Health also provided important information about the free therapy and mental health services available to all Compton Unified students. This partnership underscores the district’s commitment to supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.

The meeting concluded with the sharing of valuable academic resources for families and the recognition of this month’s Shining Stars, honoring students who have demonstrated excellence, growth, and perseverance.

Parent engagement remains a cornerstone of Compton Unified’s success. When families are informed, involved, and empowered, students benefit in every aspect of their education. Through the continued efforts of the DBPAC, the district strengthens its vital partnership with parents to ensure that every student reaches their highest potential.
