All-Pro Running Back Kyren Williams Teaches Scholars Football Skills

The energy was sky-high at Bunche Middle School as Los Angeles Rams star running back Kyren Williams helped launch an exciting new S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education program designed to inspire the next generation of innovators.

Presented by Cedars-Sinai and supported by California Resources, the Rams and Hollywood Park have teamed up to bring this free, interactive learning experience to schools across Los Angeles—starting here in Compton Unified School District.

Bunche Middle School scholars were thrilled to welcome the Rams for the very first S.T.E.A.M. Squad School Visit, where they learned directly from Rams and Hollywood Park employees about real-world careers that connect sports, entertainment, and S.T.E.A.M. fields.

After an engaging Q&A session, students hit the field alongside Rams staff for a series of fun, hands-on football drills—including throwing, kicking, flag football, and learning how professional players use equipment and helmets safely. All-Pro running back Kyren Williams joined them on the field, talking with, encouraging, and coaching scholars as they practiced their skills and learned about teamwork and perseverance.

The Rams’ S.T.E.A.M. program introduces students to a range of behind-the-scenes careers—from analytics, engineering, and performance science to marketing, photography, and event design—all critical to what happens both on and off the field.

The launch at Bunche Middle School marks the first of several school visits planned across the region. For Compton Unified scholars, it was an opportunity not only to learn from professionals but to see that careers in S.T.E.A.M. are within reach—right here in Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles Rams, Hollywood Park, Cedars-Sinai, and California Resources will continue to host additional S.T.E.A.M. Squad visits, Field Days, and Career Days throughout the school year, helping students across the Greater Los Angeles area connect their passions to future professions.

Compton Unified is proud to be a leader in S.T.E.A.M. education, with 25 schools featuring state-of-the-art STEAM Labs, 15 Verizon Innovative Learning Schools. Through partnerships with leading organizations including Boeing, RTX, Apple, LEGO, and Lenovo, the district ensures that students—from preschool through 12th grade—are gaining hands-on experience with technology and innovation. With more than 90% of students participating in S.T.E.A.M. programs and over half pursuing careers in related fields after graduation, Compton Unified continues to prepare its scholars for the future of work in science, technology, and beyond.
