Dominguez High School's College Center Powers College Acceptance Rates

Dominguez High School is celebrating an extraordinary milestone: a 98% graduation rate and a 96% college acceptance rate for the 2024–25 school year. This achievement marks a dramatic rise from just a decade ago, when fewer than 60% of seniors were enrolling in college. Today, Dominguez stands as a powerful example of what is possible when a school and a district commit to building a true college-going culture.
Over the past 10 years, Compton Unified School District (CUSD) has invested deeply in strengthening college readiness across all campuses. From expanding A–G course access, to adding dedicated college counselors, to offering comprehensive financial aid support, the district has made higher education preparation a central priority. These efforts have paid off—districtwide college acceptance rates have steadily risen, with Dominguez helping make a major impact.
At the heart of Dominguez’s success is its College Center, a vibrant hub where scholars receive hands-on guidance with applications, personal statements, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. The College Center team has spent the past decade ensuring every student has a plan for life after high school, whether that means a four-year university, community college, or vocational pathway.
Their work has helped scholars secure major competitive scholarships—including the Gates Scholarship, Edison Scholarship, and Earl Woods Foundation Scholarship—saving families thousands of dollars and opening doors to top-tier institutions.
These historic gains are not just numbers—they represent real opportunities and life-changing outcomes for Dominguez students and families.
