Bunche Faced Laurel Street in Boys Finals, Kelly and Kennedy Make Semis

Bunche Middle School had an unforgettable day at the CUSD Middle School Basketball Tournaments, capturing both the boys and girls titles and cementing their reputation as a powerhouse in district basketball. Scholar-athletes from across the district showcased impressive skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the competitions held at Enterprise Middle School.

The gym was packed with cheering crowds, and energy levels were through the roof. Students, families, and staff filled the stands, while cheerleaders from several schools added to the excitement, rallying the crowd and keeping the atmosphere electric throughout the afternoon.

The boys semifinals delivered high drama and unforgettable performances. Bunche faced off against Kennedy in a game that highlighted their dominance on both ends of the court. From the opening tip, Bunche controlled the pace, executing crisp passing, aggressive defense, and accurate shooting, ultimately cruising to a decisive victory.

The other semifinal matchup between Laurel Street and Kelly was a true thriller. Kelly held the lead for most of the game, forcing Laurel Street to play catch-up. With just several minutes remaining, Laurel Street mounted a remarkable comeback, taking the lead and managing to hold on in the final moments for a narrow and exhilarating victory. The game left fans on the edge of their seats and set up a highly anticipated championship clash.

In the boys championship game, Bunche faced Laurel Street in a contest filled with intensity and excitement. Bunche’s team showcased poise, teamwork, and skill, steadily building a lead and maintaining control to secure the victory and the district crown. Their win marked a triumphant conclusion to the boys tournament and underscored the talent and preparation of Bunche’s young athletes.

Meanwhile, the Bunche Middle School Girls team was also celebrated during the event. Having already secured their championship earlier in the season, the girls were present to receive their trophy, reflecting a year of hard work, discipline, and outstanding performance on the court. Their presence added to the celebratory atmosphere and highlighted Bunche’s remarkable achievement of sweeping both tournaments.
