Dominguez High School Celebrates Over 300 College-Bound Seniors
In a powerful demonstration of academic achievement and aspiration, Dominguez High School hosted its annual Decision Day Celebration, where more than 300 seniors announced their commitments to colleges and universities across California and the country. The event was a proud moment not only for the Dominguez High School community but also for the broader Compton Unified School District, which continues to foster a strong college-going culture districtwide.
During the celebration, Principal Oliver reminded students, “This is not the end, it’s just the beginning of your journey.” His words underscored the transformative nature of this milestone and the bright futures that lie ahead for the Class of 2025.
The numbers are impressive: 90% of Dominguez seniors applied to college, and 90% were accepted. This level of success reflects years of dedication, support, and preparation—not just by students, but also by educators, families, and counselors committed to helping students access higher education.
The Dominguez Dons will be attending more than 30 colleges and universities, including highly respected institutions such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, CSU Long Beach, CSU Los Angeles, CSU Dominguez Hills, and many others. This wide range of acceptances speaks volumes about the academic preparedness and ambition of Dominguez students.
This success is not an isolated achievement. It is part of a growing college-going culture that Compton Unified School District has worked diligently to build—starting in early grades and continuing through high school. From dedicated college counseling to programs that expose students to higher education opportunities, Compton Unified continues to prove that when expectations are high and support is strong, students rise to the occasion.
Congratulations to the Dominguez High School Class of 2025. Your future starts now
