CUSD Celebrates Scholars' SkillsUSA Achievements

Nine outstanding scholars from Compton High School, Compton Early College High School, and Dominguez High School were recently recognized at the Compton Unified School Board Meeting for their exceptional achievements at the SkillsUSA competitions. These students demonstrated remarkable talent, dedication, and perseverance in their respective categories, earning top placements in regional competitions.

Award-Winning Scholars

  • Yahir Vicente (Compton High School) – T-Shirt Design, 2nd Place, Silver Medalist
  • Jordan Billberry & Marcus Schorea (Compton High School) – Audio Production, 4th Place (Team K)
  • Monica Vicente, Valery Renteria & Vicente Echeverria Suarez (Compton High School) – Outstanding Chapter, 4th Place (Team C)
  • John Flores & Kevin Hernandez (Early College High School) – Audio Production, 6th Place (Team C)
  • Angelina Ramirez (Dominguez High School) – First Aid-CPR, 3rd Place, Bronze Medalist

The recognition ceremony also included CTE teachers, SkillsUSA advisors, and chapter officers, who joined in celebrating the hard work and dedication of these scholars.

 

Moving Forward to State Championships

With their recent success, these students have now earned the opportunity to compete at the SkillsUSA State Conference in Ontario, California, this April. This event will bring together top students from across the state as they compete for a chance to advance to the National SkillsUSA Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, this June.

Compton Unified is incredibly proud of these students and their achievements. Their dedication to skill development and academic excellence reflects the district’s commitment to preparing students for success in high-demand careers.
