As one of only ten educators selected nationwide, Mr. Gonzalez, who is a 21st Century Learning Specialist / VILS Coach, will receive a $10,000 grant for the school and the opportunity to participate in the Making CS Inclusive Cohort, a professional learning experience facilitated by Digital Promise in 2025.

With this award, Mr. Gonzalez will further enhance student learning through project-based initiatives focused on environmental sustainability and ocean conservation. His students will design and build prototypes of ocean vessels, sustainable aquaponics systems, and regenerative ocean farms.
Additionally, the grant will support field trips to museums, research institutions, and organizations that promote ocean sustainability. A highlight of the program will be a boat trip to nearby marine life refuge areas, allowing students to witness real-world conservation efforts firsthand.
The Infy Makers Awards contest, organized by Infosys Foundation USA, is open to educators from K-12 schools, universities, libraries, museums, makerspaces, and youth-serving nonprofit organizations. This year’s theme, "Making A Difference," celebrates projects that inspire students to become creative and collaborative problem-solvers who tackle real-world challenges in their communities and beyond.
Infosys Foundation USA continues to champion maker education through initiatives like the Infy Makers Awards and the #WhyIMake campaign, empowering educators and students to innovate and drive positive change in the world.
Congratulations to Mr. Gonzalez for his dedication to fostering creativity, sustainability, and hands-on learning at Davis Middle School!
