Compton Unified Scholars Fly to Titles at Drone Competition

Scholars from Compton Unified School District (CUSD) showcased their STEM excellence at the Aerial Drone Competition in San Diego last week, bringing home multiple championship titles. Sixteen teams representing nine schools—Anderson, Clinton, Davis, Jefferson, Kelly, King, Laurel Street, Roosevelt, and Tibby—demonstrated their skills in coding, teamwork, and drone navigation.

A Championship Performance

CUSD students took top honors in several categories, proving their expertise in drone technology and collaboration:

  • King Elementary & Davis Middle – Teamwork Mission Champions
  • King Elementary – All-Around Mission Champion
  • Clinton Elementary – Coding Award Winner
  • Davis Middle – 1st Place in the Skills Competition & Teamwork Competition

These achievements highlight the power of innovation, collaboration, and determination fostered within Compton Unified’s STEM programs. With STEM education starting as early as Pre-K and continuing through high school, CUSD students are developing critical skills that prepare them for future careers in technology and engineering.
