Media Release

Compton Unified School District is proud to announce that the new Centennial High School, designed by the acclaimed architectural firm DLR Group, has received the Award of Excellence in the Project in Design category of the 2025 CASH/AIA CA Leroy F. Greene Design & Planning Awards Program. This distinguished recognition, presented by the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) and the American Institute of Architects California (AIA CA), honors outstanding innovation in school design and planning.

The award was presented at the Excellence in Design Awards Ceremony during the CASH 46th Annual Conference, held last week at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Compton Unified School District and DLR Group were both recognized for their contributions, and the project was featured in a professionally produced video presentation during the event.

Compton Unified continues its commitment to creating high-quality learning environments. Construction of the new Centennial High School will begin in the coming years, funded by Bond Measure AAA that was voted on and approved by Compton voters by a resounding 71 percent in November, 2022.

Building the new Centennial will follow completion of the newly constructed Compton High School, which is set to open in 2025.

This project represents a significant investment in the future of Compton students, providing state-of-the-art facilities designed to support 21st-century learning.
