Compton Success Profiles: Stephanie Sandoval, Dominguez High School
Meet Stephanie Sandoval, Dominguez High School Class of 2025 graduate. She will be attending Compton College in the fall, majoring in Cosmetology. She's been into makeup since she was little and wants to make a career out of it.
Stephanie's high school journey wasn't always smooth sailing. After struggling during her freshman year, she credits her aunties for helping her get her priorities straight and refocus on what truly mattered. Their guidance became the turning point that set her on the path to success.

Stephanie reflects on the valuable lessons learned along the way and her advice to current students would be to focus more on themselves academically and not get distracted by outside pressures. The best part of high school for her was meeting new people and connecting with inspiring teachers who believed in her potential.

One person who made a particularly significant impact was her counselor, Ms. Brewer. Stephanie credits Ms. Brewer for opening her eyes to different options and helping her navigate her educational path when she felt uncertain about her future.

Education holds deep meaning for Stephanie because it represents the foundation for achieving her dreams. As she puts it, "If you have dreams and places you want to go, you need a good job to get you places." Her journey through Compton Unified schools—from Whaley Middle School to Dominguez High School, Marshall and Chavez—has prepared her for the next chapter at Compton College.

With her passion for makeup and cosmetology, combined with the strong support system that helped her overcome early challenges, Stephanie is ready to turn her childhood interest into a thriving career.
