Compton Success Profiles: Salena Paredes, Compton High School

Meet Salena Paredes, Compton High School Class of 2025 Co-Salutatorian. She will be attending UCLA in the fall, majoring in Political Science. She aspires to become a lawyer after college, working as a district attorney or criminal defense attorney, helping those in need.
At Compton High School, Salena was active in sports, playing volleyball during her freshman and sophomore years, then joining the cheerleading squad during her senior year. She also participated in weightlifting outside of school since she was nine years old.
Salena was inspired by her mother throughout her academic years. She saw her mom go through many struggles but continued to persevere and provided for Salena and her brothers. At Compton High, Salena also had teachers and counselors who helped guide and encourage her to do well academically.
Salena attended Walton Middle School prior to Compton High School.
