Media Release

Haley Ramirez exemplifies the power of perseverance and educational support. The Centennial High School Class of 2025 grad will attend UCLA this fall to pursue a degree in Public Health, with aspirations of becoming a physician assistant.

Ramirez's academic journey began with significant challenges. When she started kindergarten, she spoke no English and struggled with the language barrier. However, through determination and the support of Compton Unified School District educators, she not only overcame these initial difficulties but excelled academically, graduating with an impressive 4.0 GPA.

Her path through CUSD schools illustrates the district's commitment to student success. Ramirez attended Foster Elementary before moving to Jefferson Elementary School for grades six through eight and finally completing her high school career at Centennial High School.

The transformation from a kindergartner who couldn't speak English to a straight-A high school graduate heading to UCLA demonstrates both Ramirez's personal dedication and the effectiveness of educational support systems. Her career goal of becoming a physician assistant reflects her commitment to healthcare and serving her community.

Ramirez's story represents another powerful example of student achievement within the Compton Unified School District, showcasing how determination and consistent support can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
