Media Release

Dominguez High School has achieved a remarkable milestone, earning recognition as a 2024 School of Excellence by the American College Application Campaign (ACAC) and ACT. This prestigious national honor sets Dominguez apart as the only school in California to receive this distinguished award.

The school was presented with the award recently during their Decision Day Celebration, marking a momentous occasion for the entire school community. This recognition reflects Dominguez's exceptional commitment to supporting college access and student success.

The award celebrates several key achievements that demonstrate Dominguez's dedication to preparing students for higher education. The school has implemented comprehensive A-G readiness coursework to ensure students meet university admission requirements. Dominguez also organized a highly effective College Application Day in the fall, providing students with dedicated time and support to complete their college applications. The school's efforts have yielded outstanding results, with 90% of seniors successfully submitting college applications this year and achieving an equally impressive 90% acceptance rate.

The American College Application Campaign plays a vital role in helping first-generation and low-income students across the United States navigate the complex college application process. Dominguez High School has emerged as a leader in this mission, proudly representing Compton and demonstrating what's possible when schools commit to college access for all students.

This recognition highlights not only the school's current success but also its ongoing commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to pursue higher education. Dominguez continues to set the standard for college readiness and student support in the region.
