Compton High School Welcomes First Scholars for Summer Enrichment

Media Release

A historic milestone took place this week as Compton High School opened its doors to more than 400 students for the inaugural Summer Enrichment program.

For the first time, scholars stepped foot onto the brand-new state-of-the-art campus—marking the beginning of a new era in Compton Unified School District history.

The day began with a warm and enthusiastic welcome in the school’s brand-new gymnasium, where Principal Dr. Larry Natividad addressed students during a special orientation. Dr. Natividad shared his excitement about the future of Compton High and encouraged students to take pride in being the first to experience the incredible new campus.

During orientation, scholars received school guidelines and expectations for how to care for and navigate the modern facilities. Following the welcome session, students broke into their respective classes, met with their summer teachers, toured the expansive new campus, and began their enrichment learning.

The Summer Enrichment program not only introduces students to high-quality academic opportunities but also gives them a head start in building a sense of ownership, pride, and belonging within their new school environment.

This moment marks more than just the start of a summer program—it’s the launch of a bold new chapter in Compton’s educational journey.

Welcome to your new amazing home, Compton High School scholars. The journey starts here.
