CUSD Scholars Tee Off at Tiger Woods Academy

Media Release

Compton Unified scholars recently participated in the Tiger Woods Foundation College and Career Bound Summer Academy, where they gained valuable tools to support their academic and personal success.

From improving study skills and building resumes to learning about the college admissions process and exploring career opportunities, students showed the same determination and drive that Tiger Woods is known for on the golf course.

The week also included an educational tour of the Lenain Water Treatment Plant, where scholars learned about careers in environmental engineering and water management—highlighting the real-world impact of STEM fields.

In true Tiger Woods fashion, the academy concluded with golf instruction that emphasized confidence, discipline, and mental focus—skills that will serve students well both in school and in life.

Opportunities like this summer academy are essential for helping students stay on track academically while exposing them to new possibilities beyond the classroom. Summer enrichment programs not only prevent learning loss but also provide meaningful experiences that build college and career readiness, leadership skills, and a strong sense of purpose. These experiences give students a valuable head start as they plan for their futures.
