Compton Success Profiles: Tasia Coleman, Compton High School

Media Release

Tasia Coleman, a proud member of Compton High School’s Class of 2025, is preparing to take her next big step: attending Southern University A&M this fall, where she will major in Pre-Med. Her goal is to become a pediatric surgeon—a dream inspired by her step-mother, who is a nurse, and supported by her mother, who studied psychology.

Tasia’s high school journey has been filled with dedication, leadership, and resilience. She was a standout student-athlete, competing in track and field, flag football, and serving as a cheerleader. Beyond sports, she was deeply involved in campus life. Tasia served as president of the BSU, participated in after-school clubs, helped organize blood drives, and regularly volunteered with school counselors.

Balancing a full academic schedule with extracurricular commitments was no easy feat, but Tasia handled it with determination and grace. At home, she is the oldest of eight siblings—a role that motivates her to lead by example. Her decision to attend college out of state is especially meaningful, as she wants to show her younger siblings that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible.

Tasia’s educational journey began in the Compton Unified School District at Bursch Elementary. She later attended Laurel Street Elementary through 8th grade before enrolling at Compton High School, where she flourished.

Tasia Coleman represents the spirit of excellence, leadership, and aspiration that defines Compton Unified scholars. Her story is a testament to the power of community, ambition, and the support of a strong educational foundation.
