CUSD Superintendent Dr. Brawley Receives National NAF Leadership Award

Media Release

Compton Unified School District is proud to announce that Superintendent Dr. Darin Brawley has been honored with the 2025 Janet Linton Leadership Award by NAF. The award was presented during the NAF Next Conference, held in Aurora, Colorado.

This prestigious national recognition is awarded to visionary education leaders who exemplify a deep commitment to student success and who actively advance the mission of NAF—preparing students of all backgrounds for college, career, and future readiness.

Under Dr. Brawley’s leadership, Compton Unified has significantly expanded career readiness opportunities through the launch of NAF Academies at Centennial, Compton, and Dominguez High Schools. These academies serve hundreds of students, providing hands-on learning experiences and real-world career pathways in high-demand fields.

The Janet Linton Leadership Award is named in memory of a beloved San Diego Academy Director who mentored countless educators during her lifetime. The award honors individuals who embody her spirit—leaders who champion equity, innovation, and mentorship in education.

NAF is a national nonprofit that brings together schools and business partners to help students gain the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to thrive in college and the workforce.

Dr. Brawley’s recognition affirms Compton Unified’s commitment to ensuring every student has access to meaningful, future-focused learning.
