Inspiring Mentorship at Enterprise Middle School
Twelve scholars from Enterprise Middle School boys' mentor group had the honor of welcoming Super Mentor Mohamet Mbaye for an inspiring discussion on The Art of Loving Your Melanin. Mbaye shared his personal journey of growing up in Africa and the challenges he faced upon arriving in America due to the color of his skin. Rather than letting adversity define him, he used it as motivation to build confidence, embrace his identity, and uplift others.
During the session that was part of the Cares Mentoring program in partnership with the CUSD Department of Black Student Achievement, Mbaye encouraged students to remain positive and focused, even in times of uncertainty. He emphasized the importance of self-love, resilience, and perseverance in achieving success. Additionally, he urged students to support and uplift one another, celebrating their differences rather than using them as a reason for division.
The discussion concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, where students expressed their appreciation for Mbaye’s honesty, wisdom, and presence. His visit left a lasting impact, reinforcing the values of self-acceptance, unity, and striving for greatness despite challenges.
Mbaye is of Senegalese and Gambian descent. He is also an active YouTuber, personal trainer, and CEO of his own skincare line called Glow by Africa. He can be found on Instagram at @swaggy_mo and has more than 426K followers.
