CUSD Welcomes Teachers Back for 2025-26 School Year
Compton Unified School District schools open on Thursday, August 14, when are award-winning district will welcome back thousands of scholars eager to learn — and they’ll be greeted by nearly 700 new and returning teachers who have spent the past week preparing to make this school year extraordinary.

To ensure every classroom is ready for success, CUSD began hosting two full days of professional development across three sites today. Elementary school teachers and administrators gathered at Clinton Elementary. Middle and high school teachers, along with counselors and Career Technical Education (CTE) instructors, met at Davis Middle School. This year, the district added a third meeting site at Caldwell Elementary for preschool educators, special education staff, and school psychologists.

Throughout the sessions, educators explored best practices in math, English, science, history, visual and performing arts, world languages, and physical education, along with specialized topics to meet the diverse needs of CUSD scholars. The focus was not just on lesson plans, but on strategies to engage students, integrate technology, and foster a positive learning environment for all.
