Compton Unified Scholars Earn Gold at 2025 SkillsUSA State Conference
Compton Unified School District scholars achieved major success at the 2025 SkillsUSA California State Leadership and Skills Conference, earning multiple gold medals and leadership honors. The event, held recently in Ontario, brought together top Career and Technical Education (CTE) scholars from across the state to compete in a range of career-based skills and leadership events.
Representing Compton Unified, Compton High School seniors Jordan Billberry and Marcus Schorea were awarded the Gold Medal in Audio Production. Dominguez High School Junior Angelina Ramirez earned the Gold Medal in First Aid-CPR and was also elected Vice President of Region 3 for SkillsUSA California.
This year, a total of 26 Compton Unified CTE students participated in the conference, including 10 from Compton High School, 7 from Dominguez High School, and 9 from Compton Early College High School.
The SkillsUSA program is a nationally recognized organization that prepares students for careers in technical, skilled, and service occupations. Through competitions like the State Leadership and Skills Conference, students demonstrate their expertise in areas such as health sciences, digital media, and engineering.
Compton Unified’s Career and Technical Education pathways provide students with a blend of academic instruction and hands-on training, preparing them for success in college, career certifications, and the workforce.
District officials praised the students' accomplishments, noting that their success reflects the strength and impact of Compton Unified’s growing CTE programs.
