Compton and Compton Early College HS Scholars Attend Women's Conference
Twenty-four Compton High School and Compton Early College High School seniors and juniors attended the Young Women’s Health Conference, “Empower Her,” in Carson, California, thanks to CUSD’s Department of Black Student Achievement.
Hosted by the Honorable Adrienne D. Konigar-Macklin, an administrative law judge and attorney, this inspiring event aimed to equip young women with essential knowledge and tools to thrive in various aspects of their lives.
A diverse lineup of speakers covered impactful topics, including Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Self-Care, Self-Esteem, and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare for the attendees.
After the guest speakers, students enjoyed lunch in an elaborately decorated room, where another speaker discussed how Artificial Intelligence is used in the healthcare industry, fostering interest in this field among the attendees.
Scholars were excited about the relevance of the topics and the practical skills they learned, with one remarking, “It was empowering to hear from women who have succeeded in their fields.”
The event also included interactive workshops that encouraged direct engagement with experts and self-reflection. As a thoughtful departure gift, students received gift bags filled with name-brand products to support their self-care efforts. Overall, the Young Women’s Health Conference was a tremendous success, inspiring young women to take charge of their futures and empowering them with essential skills.
