Blockbuster Filmmaker Teaches Movie Making at Compton HS and Dominguez

Guest lecturers are a great way to inject variety into a class, bringing their outside knowledge and real-world experience to share in to students in a classroom.

Director, writer, and producer Brian Levant, known for directing blockbuster movies such as The Flintstones, Beethoven, Snow Dogs, Jingle All the Way, Scooby-Doo: The Mystery Begins, and Are We There Yet? recently visited the TV and Film production classes at Compton High School and Dominguez High School to pass along a little bit of his knowledge on the magic of filmmaking.

Mr. Levant showed clips of his most iconic films and broke down how they were brought to life from idea to silver screen, inspiring CUSD’s aspiring filmmaking scholars.

He started his long career in 1976 as a writer for the TV series Happy Days. He also wrote for other TV shows such as The Jeffersons, Mork & Mindy, and Still the Beaver.
