This school year six Compton Unified elementary schools - Clinton, Dickison, Kelly, Kennedy, Mayo, and Roosevelt - have all been participating in the Latino Family Literacy Project (LFLP). The program was created in response to the growing Latino communities and the need for effective literacy programs.

Parents attend a series of workshops where bilingual and culturally relevant books are read and discussed. Parents then take the books home and read them with their children. During the workshops, parents also create a family album that they will present at the last celebration session.
