Kalan.FrFr, real name Kalan Montgomery, graduated from Dominguez High School with aspirations of playing football in the NFL. He got a scholarship to play defensive back at San Diego State University, but an injury ended his professional dreams.

Kalan got into music at an early age, playing a handful of instruments growing up. At that time, he was exposed to the diverse sounds of Los Angeles, which heavily influenced his musical style. Drawing inspiration from legends like Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Jackson, he began honing his craft at a young age, writing lyrics and perfecting his delivery.

After his football career was over, he transitioned to music and kept the next-play mentality that he learned as an athlete to power himself forward.
