915 Seniors Graduate From CUSD High Schools at 2024 Commencement Ceremonies

Media Release

Compton Unified’s High Schools celebrated the graduations of more than 915 seniors at the Long Beach Terrace Theater in four separate ceremonies throughout the day on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Each of the schools, Centennial, Compton Early College High School, Compton High School, and Dominguez High School, plus Marshall and Chavez High Schools, held amazing commencement ceremonies, with speeches from CUSD Board of Trustees, valedictorians, salutatorians, principles, and other administrators.

But the day belonged to the scholars who celebrated the end of their high school journey and took a step toward the next chapter in their life, be it college, military service, or an exciting career. The Long Beach Terrace Theater was filled with cheering families and friends for the stirring productions. Compton High School's esteemed Marching Band even made a surprise appearance for one song!

CUSD Board of Trustee President Micah Ali, VP Satra Zurita and Board Members Dr. Ayanna E. Davis, Denzell O. Jordan-Perry, Michael Hooper, Alma Taylor Pleasant, and Sandra Moss were all in attendance, presiding over the ceremonies.

Superintendent Dr. Darin Brawley, who began in that role 12 years ago and has watched this class go through their whole primary schooling within the district, assured the graduates and their families that the scholars have been well prepared by Compton Unified School District for whatever they choose to do next.
