8,000+ Attend 5th STEAMFest Showcasing CUSD Scholars' Tech and Art Innovations

Compton Unified’s 5th Annual STEAMFest welcomed more than 8,000 community members to view CUSD scholars’ extraordinary talents, showcasing innovations in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) as they displayed their innovative new products they created this year in the classroom.
The enthusiastic crowd packed into the Compton College Quad to see more than 80 booths from 34 CUSD schools and partners such as Rivian, Waymo, Boeing, Sony, Lego, Home Depot, the Los Angeles Rams, and many more.
Scholars from all schools were presenting wearable tech inventions, from illuminating helmets and jeans, to shoes that had fans and built-in compasses in their dynamic booths. In addition, there was an Esports tournament, won by Whaley Middle School.

Compton’s own legendary DJ Toddy Tee kept the beats going and hosted a series of live performances on the outside stage. Four schools put on theater routines including Beauty and the Beast by Foster ES, a dance and fashion show from McKinley scholars, an adaptation of The Colored Museum by Compton Early College High School students, and an Aladdin performance by Compton High School pupils.

There was also an art exhibit, photo booth, a Wearable Technology Fashion Show, and various food trucks to feed the attendees. The afternoon was filled with incredible sights, sounds, tastes, and an amazing showcase of scholar’s talents in an amazing atmosphere.
