The two officers were recognized at the Board Meeting for their heroic efforts and life-saving actions when District employee Dixon Lee suffered a medical emergency at the District office in December.

Both Officers administered life-saving CPR to Mr. Lee, restoring a pulse and kept the CPR going for more than five minutes until paramedics arrived to take over. The officers also assisted other employees who were affected by the event. Their selfless actions and dedication to duty are a testament to their professionalism and commitment to the public service.

Officer Valenzuela, a 16 year veteran of the Compton School Police Department, gracefully accepted the award and thanked the CUSD Board of Trustees for the recognition. Officer Mendoza, who has served for 26 years on the Compton School Police, was unable to attend the event in person.
