CUSD and Tablet Mobile Partner to Provide Free Cellular Service and Tablets to District Households

New Program Bridges Digital Divide within Community
Compton Unified School District (CUSD) is partnering with Tablet Mobile to provide free internet service and a brand-new Android Tablet to all district scholar’s households. With this exciting and free program, Compton Unified and Tablet Mobile are committed to offering much-needed digital connectivity that’s necessary in today’s technological world.
“We’re thrilled for this opportunity to partner with Tablet Mobile and help bridge the digital divide within our Compton Unified community,” said CUSD Board of Trustees President Denzell Perry. “Making sure students have reliable internet service at home is essential in today’s world. It ensures all students have the critical tools they need to access various learning opportunities provided by the School District.”

To qualify for the program, CUSD households only need to fill out a form sent home with students recently and return it to their school by Friday, February 2. Households can also visit Tablet Mobile’s website at https://tabletmobile.com/comptonusd and fill out the paperwork online. All households within the Compton Unified School District qualify for this groundbreaking program.
“This exciting program will provide an amazing opportunity for digital equity, not only for Compton Unified scholars, but within Compton households across the entire city,” said CUSD Board of Trustees member Micah Ali. “This will ensure all students have the tools they need to access learning opportunities, and will foster a sense of community, connectivity, and empowerment throughout our extended CUSD family.”
Participants in this program will receive Free Unlimited 4G/5G service for the duration of program funding via Tablet Mobile. They can also qualify for a one-time Tablet subsidy provided under the program. Tablets can be used as hotspots.
“We are committed to providing our scholars every possible opportunity to further their educational journey, both within our schools and at their homes,” said CUSD Superintendent Dr. Darin Brawley. “Cellular-enabled devices offer flexibility in terms of where and when students can learn. This can be particularly beneficial for students with different learning styles or those who need to accommodate personal schedules. With these resources, Compton Unified students have the opportunity to learn from any place at any time.”
Tablets will be shipped free to all qualifying households. There is no contract and no monthly fees for participants. Tablets come with free SIM Card kit and activation. Households will get to keep the tablets after the program is over. Tablet Mobile provides National 4G/5G services in all 50 US States and 4 territories (Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, Samosa).
