Dominguez High School Hosts Dual Enrollment Equity Conference
How do high schools administer college courses for their high school students? A dozen schools from the Dual Enrollment Equity Conference visited Dominguez High School last week to hear about best practices in enrolling and supporting students with their various Dual Enrollment programs.
Led by Compton Unified’s Higher Education Coordinator Richard Ramirez and Counselors Jeanette Conchas and Michelle Brewer, they discussed how to support students with the ability to earn their Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) via the district’s Early College Satellite, or participate in the three-year Degree Program that allows students to graduate from Charles Drew University in three years. They also talked about the ability to have students take college courses during the school day, after school, and or during the summer.
Dominguez is one of CUSD’s two California Exemplary Dual Enrollment Awardees, along with Centennial High School. They were the only two Los Angeles County schools to receive the award and were two of nine total in California to receive the distinction.
