Dominguez High School Receives 6-Year ACS WASC Accreditation
Dominguez High School received six-year accreditation status from the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC). The Commission granted Dominguez six-year accreditation status through June 30, 2030, with a mid-cycle visit during the 2026-27 school year.
“Our community deserves strong, effective, accredited learning institutions,” said Dominguez High School Principal Caleb Oliver. “We are grateful for our partnership with WASC to recognize that Dominguez High is exactly that.”
Dominguez joins the other schools in the Compton Unified School District that have all earned their accreditation, marking a major milestone for district.
“For the first time ever in modern history, every single Compton Unified High School has received a six-year WASC accreditation,” said Dr. Darin Brawley, CUSD Superintendent. “That includes Centennial, Compton, Dominguez, Compton Early College, Chavez, and Marshall.”
The accreditation action was taken at the Winter 2024 Commission Meeting, where the Commissioners determined that Manuel Dominguez High School (9-12) met the ACS WASC criteria for accreditation, based on the information provided by the school, including the school’s report, and the satisfactory completion of the accreditation visit.
Accreditation status is conditioned upon Manual Dominguez High School’s continued adherence with the ASC WASC policies, procedures, and criteria for accreditation. The Commission looks forward to Manuel Dominguez High School’s anticipated success and continuing improvement in keeping with ACS WASC’s pursuit of excellence in elementary, secondary, and adult education.
ACS WASC is a world-renowned accrediting association and one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States.
