Bunche Middle Wins 2 Esports Titles
Congratulations to Bunche Middle School’s Esports team for taking home not one, but two titles recently.
First, Bunche triumphed in the Compton Unified Esports Middle School Rocket League 3v3 Tournament, defeating Roosevelt in an intense final.
In the consolation round, Jefferson claimed third place with a win over the Emerson team. The Compton Unified tournament consisted of 14 teams and was played over a series of weeks, culminating in the semi finals and finals being contested at Bunche Middle School’s Esports Lab.
In addition, Bunche Middle’s Esports team also took top honors by defeating Jefferson in the finals of the Generation Esports West Coast Middle School Esports League Fall '24 Rocket League 3v3. Competing against 70 teams from across the Western U.S. throughout the fall, Bunche was the top ranked team and proved unstoppable through the 16-team bracket tournament!
In a show of Compton Unified dominance, CUSD had the top two finalists in the tournament, showcasing the level of Esports commitment that our schools have!
Compton Unified’s Esports program is award-winning, being recognized with a prestigious Golden Bell Award in 2023. In fact, all CUSD middle schools and high schools now have Esports Labs, enabling scholars to practice, as well as learn more about computer science and coding, preparing them for lucrative jobs of the future.
Congratulations to all the Esports teams, schools, staff, and coaches for your incredible dedication and hard work.
