Compton Success Profiles: Jazmine Arevalo, Centennial High School
Meet Jazmine Arevalo, Centennial High School Class of 2024 graduate. She was accepted to UCLA and attended during the summer. She'd like to major Biological Science. She’s enlisting in the Marines in October.
After the Marines, she plans to go back to UCLA. After finishing UCLA, she’d like to either go to medical school and become a doctor or go to veterinary school and become a vet.
In middle school, she dealt with many issues at home and was eventually placed in the foster care system. Later, she moved in with her father, moved to LA, and got her life together.
Jazmine was in band since middle school, joined the drum line in high school, and became the drum major her senior year.
She says she loved the environment at Centennial High School, particularly being part of the band. She says being a part of clubs in school are what make the high school experience special.
No one in Jazmine’s family ever graduated from high school, and she didn’t have anyone to look up to as she was growing up. But, she feels education is something you should focus because not everyone has access to it or takes advantage of the free education you get.
Jazmine Arevalo is another Compton Success Story.
