Compton Early College (CEC) High School opened its doors in 2015 as the district’s flagship early college high school, where students can graduate with both a high school diploma and college degree. The school is made possible through a groundbreaking partnership with Compton College, where students take college classes during their regular school day and earn both UC/CSU transferable college units, while meeting their high school graduation credit requirements. The school now serves students in grades 6 through 12.
Since its first graduating class in 2019, Compton Early College High School has consistently maintained both a 100% graduation and a 100% college acceptance rate. In 2022-23, 68% of the students graduated with their AA/IGETC.
The 2023-2024 Best High Schools rankings ranked 17,680 out of nearly 25,000 reviewed public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. U.S. News works with RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research firm, to assess and rank all eligible public high schools nationally and also produces distinct high school rankings of charter schools and magnet schools. Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare students for college.
