Media Release
Emerson Elementary held a National Hispanic Heritage Month celebration that featured a wonderful mariachi band performance and more. Students and teachers enjoyed the event with festive costumes and dancing, as a way to celebrate the American Hispanic and Latino community.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized from September 15 to October 15 and traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. During this month, schools share history, heritage, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans of past and present.
All of the Compton Unified School District campuses celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month in a variety of ways, from dressing up in traditional outfits, to having bands play, to building and decorating their own piñatas.
