CUSD Seniors Attend Young Women's Conference

The Compton Unified BSA Department took a group of 40 female senior scholars from each of the CUSD high schools – Centennial High School, Compton High School, Compton Early College High School, and Dominguez High School -- to the “It’s All About Me” Young Women’s Conference at the Carson Civic Center.
At the conference, students learned about female health, the importance of going to college, making good decisions, career networking, and more.
In addition, students met several celebrities. Grammy-nominated hardcore rapper and actress Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Whitaker was the Mistress of Ceremonies, and 93.5 KDAY Los Angeles radio and television personality Cece the Mamacita (Cece Valencia) was a keynote speaker.
The Young Women’s Conference was part of the 9th Annual Women’s Health Conference and Business Expo, organized by the City of Carson, in collaboration with The Carson Citizens Cultural Arts Foundation, CSUDH, and The Dymally Institute.
