Dominguez Art Show Elevates Students’ Creativity

Media Release

Dominguez High School recently held an art exhibit showcasing pieces scholars have been working on all year. Dominguez art teacher Jodi Evans explained that students utilized a variety of mediums to create these creations, from skateboard decks, charcoal, and acrylic paints to oil pastels and animations on iPads. Adding an additional element to the exhibit, all school students had the opportunity check out and spend time studying and critiquing the displayed art.

Mrs. Evans said teaching art is more than painting or drawing pictures: “The point is teaching students how to create ideas, and then giving them the tools to be able to actually make those ideas visible. I'm very proud of my students. It gives them agency and pride in themselves, in what they've accomplished, and in what they can do when they persevere and persist.”
