AP Spanish - Dual Immersion Pen Pals Meet

Media Release

Over the past school year, Compton Unified’s AP Spanish students from Centennial, Compton, and Dominguez High Schools have been exchanging letters with pen pals from the Dual Immersion programs at Dickison, Emerson, and Kennedy Elementary schools.

After a year of communicating through these letters, the AP Spanish students finally got to meet their Dual Immersion pen pals in person for the first time late in the school year. When the two groups of scholars met, they participated in various activities designed to promote language learning.

For the AP Spanish scholars who have been learning it as a second language, the program gave them a unique opportunity to use their bilingual skills by writing letters to their pen pals and fellow Compton Unified students.
