Meet Centennial High School Class of 2023 graduate David Quirarte. He’ll be attending California State University, Dominguez Hills in the fall, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He’s always been interested in the field and often helps his father, who works in construction, with electrical work.  

David’s grown up in Compton Unified schools, attending King Elementary and Bunche Middle School, before heading to Centennial. When he first began elementary school, he couldn’t speak English, but after several years, he overcame the language barrier, became fluent in English and has thrived in his academics since then.  

For David, the best part about Compton schools has been the experiences he’s had, in the classrooms and also with his fellow students. He values his education because it has taught him how to be resilient and how to move forward with his life.
