Compton Success Profiles: Araxi Hinojos

Meet Compton High School Class of 2023 graduate Araxi Hinojos. She will be attending UCLA in the fall with an interest in the life sciences.
Growing up in Compton, she attended Kennedy Elementary School, then Walton Middle School, before going to Compton High School.
Araxi says the support she got in Compton schools, particularly her AVID class, was welcoming and helpful, and aided her getting into college. She noted the best part about high school was taking different courses, like art classes, that really helped her learn more about herself.
By her senior year in high school, Araxi joined different clubs and even became her senior class vice president. Looking back, she would tell others to get more involved with clubs earlier in high school, as they helped her grow and prepare for college.
She valued her education because it opened doors to new opportunities.
